add photo into the photo gallery in iOS and Android

Theo Derks - NL (distributor) 4 years ago in Ideas updated by Aleksandr Romanov (CTO) 4 years ago 8

Hi,

We can get photo's from iOS and Android Gallery.

But how can we save a photo (or picture) in the iOS or Android Gallery?

Please add this functionality.

Thanks!

Theo

Hi Theo.

An interesting idea, but why use it in a program? What is the use case and what is the value of this functionality?

Where will the picture be saved from? Where will our application get it?

Hi Alex,

An installer want to create buttons with a snapshot from an camera stream.

His clients (end-users) wants to create presets for PTZ-camera's, with a snapshot (image) on each button (for each preset).

So, he wants this:
1) From the camera-stream, he takes one snapsnot
2) Save this snapshot (image) to the Gallery
3) Take this image from the Gallery to bind to the button with the specific preset.

Now, this is not possible, because it's not possible to save the image in the irpz file, and also not into the photo Gallery ;-)

If you compare other home automation products, then you can see that in many products you can take a photo and save it into the Gallery.

Thanks!

Theo

Could you clarify what other products have this?

For your installer, it is enough to display the image from the camera in full screen, take a screenshot and use it exactly on this device.

But this is not entirely correct, because then the second phone will not have such a picture. It is better to store such images on a server and serve them on demand.

Hi

For our installer, it’s enough to have this functionality for 1 device. So it’s not needed for the end-user (installer) to save the photo on a server.

Alexander,

can you say to me: will the access to photo gallery in plans, or not? Installer is waiting for answer: yes or no....

Thanks

Theo

I left this idea on the vote because I don't see a real need for such a function (and offered you another solution that can be used in this project).

At the moment, we do not include this in the development plan, if there are other interesting cases, we are ready to return to the discussion.

Hi Aleksandr,

I think it's something what can be handy sometimes. Not only is this case, but for example the end user can place it's own pictures in the app, to make is more of iets own. Or when you have your security cameras on the app and you see something that you can make a snap shot.

By the way I was that installer, I now made a work arround, when restarting the app, you can reload the picture from the cameras. (will fire all presets and reload the snapshots)

my regards,

Hi Paul

Thanks for your explanations, this function is not that easy to implement, so I can't promise that we will implement it. This still remains in the ideas and if it arouses interest, then we will return to this issue again.
